Will the airport security metal detector go off if i have a dip can in my bag?

When a metal detector goes off, it's the one that people go through, so if you don't have the dip can with you yourself or any other metallic items, nothing will go off. Your carry on bags should be put on a conveyor belt at security point and they go through an x-ray scanner. You're allowed to pack certain items that are metal in your bags, ie anything not sharp or can be turned into a weapon. Should your can be found to be a form of weapon, the security officer would confiscate it, but still the scanner will not go off with a beep.
