Does a belly ring set off a medal detector?

hi i got my belly piercied a month ago when i turned sixteen my mom doesnt know and im going on vacaction today and i wanted to know if the medal detector will go off its sergical steel 14 gaug anyone know?my mom hates piercing please help! i can't take it out its not fully healed should i take my belly piercing out? i dont have any plastic/ rubber rings to put in will it close? itsa long flight i have to go on two planes which probably means two metal detectors?
