Can water evaporation cause hydrogen detector alarm?

We had a residual water inside the vessel and when entering the vessel CO detector alarm went off. Now, we know that in industry there were cases when 300 or more ppm of hydrogen could cause CO detectors alarm. So could water evaporation cause hydrogen build up in the tank which in turn led to CO detectors alarm?
